Homicide is the second leading cause of death for young people ages 15-24. To address the issue of youth violence, localities across the county are increasingly looking to the tools of public health to stop violence from happening before it occurs. This presentation will provide an overview of the public health approach to addressing violence and discuss the implications of this approach for the field of maternal and child health. Drawing on lessons learned from violence prevention activities in New Orleans, this presentation will provide public health practitioners and other key allies with a framework for violence prevention in their communities
This event is sponsored by the Tulane Maternal and Child Health Leadership Program and produced by the Alabama Department of Public Health
