ANNUAL SALARY: $36,204.00 – $51,744.00

DEFINITION: This is advanced technical and specialized work in conducting document reviews and providing guidance, assistance and training to water/wastewater operators. An employee in this class provides technical leadership and expertise in technical document reviews, development and implementation of the water/wastewater certification program and the development and presentation of training programs and related materials. Work involves serving as a resource and consultant to other staff within the Department and to owners and operators of water/wastewater facilities. Work involves insuring the adequacy of departmental technical publications related to water/wastewater; water/wastewater operator training materials; and operation and maintenance manuals submitted by consulting engineering firms. Work may include serving as a lead worker and assisting in the training of other employees. General supervision is received from an administrative superior; however, the employee is expected to exercise considerable independence in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS: Two years as a Water Specialist II with the Department of Natural Resources.
OR
Six years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater facility, of which two years included the operation and maintenance of mechanical primary and secondary treatment processes, and included one year of experience in charge of the facility. (College education with specialization in engineering, chemistry, biological sciences or closely related areas may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required general experience.)
OR
Six years of experience in the operation and maintenance of a drinking water supply facility, of which two years included the operation and maintenance of treatment processes for sedimentation, chemical coagulation or softening, filtration and disinfection and included one year of experience in charge of the facility. (College education with specialization in engineering, chemistry, biological sciences or closely related areas may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for a maximum of two years of the required general experience.)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT (As required by assignment): Possession of a Class “A” water/wastewater operator certificate issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
