The Office of Family Health Services (OFHS) seeks a dynamic leader to coordinate the Virginia Youth Survey project.  Provides overall management of the project, including the development and implementation of the state specific research protocol; management of the data collection, contract and Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission. Works closely with the OFHS program managers and external partners, including, but not limited to, the Department of Education and local school districts to implement the survey and to expand the use of data related to youth behavior. Prepares the annual grant application and required Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) annual report. Develops an analysis plan, policies and procedures for dissemination of the youth survey data.

Successful candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of public health and epidemiology; public health program management experience including the development of program goals/objectives, program monitoring and evaluation; budget and contract development and monitoring; experience with grant writing and management; excellent report writing and oral presentation skills; experience working with advisory committees; and ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision. Prefer a Master’s degree in public health or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience using SAS for statistical analysis of public health data; experience working with Maternal and Child Health public health programs; and   experience working with local school districts preferred.  This is a restricted, grant-funded position. A criminal background check is required.

Salary range:  $45,055 – Negotiable    Closes on June 5, 2008
