Job Opening: Toxicologist Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

The Toxicology Section of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has an opening for a Toxicologist.
Job duties:
* Develop, coordinate, conduct, and manage toxicological evaluations to determine potential health risks associated with exposure to environmental contaminants.
* Research and prepare written chemical risk assessments using appropriate technical guidance.
* Conduct, review, coordinate, and manage risk assessments for remediation sites.
* Develop media-specific cleanup levels and determine appropriateness of data for use in risk assessments.
* Coordinate health effects research projects conducted either in-house or by independent contractors.
* Represent the agency to the public, industry representatives, representatives of other government agencies, legislators, and the academic community.
* Provide expert testimony at public hearings and participate in public meetings.
* Serve as an expert resource for other agency staff regarding human health and chemical risk assessments.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:
* Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in toxicology, pharmacology, or a closely related field, plus one year of full-time experience in toxicology, pharmacology, risk assessment, or a closely-related field, OR * Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in toxicology, pharmacology, or a closely related field.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
