Primary Duties

This position is responsible for providing oversight for the assessment and evaluation components of LAUNCH, Epilepsy, and Autism projects. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Leads the evaluation team of state and local Project LAUNCH program and analytic staff.
  • Designs and develops evaluation plans for LAUNCH, Epilepsy, and Autism projects.
  • Conducts needs assessments and program evaluations for LAUNCH, Epilepsy, and Autism projects.
  • Represents and negotiates state evaluation methods with federal cross-state evaluation to be developed.
  • Works with state, local and federal partners to collect and manage data.
  • Analyzes and interprets health status and health care data: Selects and utilizes appropriate analytical methods from a wide range of descriptive and inferential statistical procedures; identifies and describes the meaning and significance of analysis results to answer research questions.
  • Conduct qualitative data analysis and generate reports using software such as NVIVO.
  • Presents findings: Utilizes graphic, oral, statistical, w5ritten, or a combination of reporting methods to prepare and/or present results of significant research studies to non-scientific audiences, such as managers, legislators, or general public.
  • Advises partners: Advises local health authorities and community partners on importance and use of data and project findings for local planning and evaluation.
  • Supervises and mentors students, fellow and other staff as necessary.

Required Qualifications

· A bachelor’s degree in biological, social, behavioral or other health-related sciences AND four (4) or more years of experience in experimental or analytical research in a public agency, public or private research corporation, nonprofit research corporation or university research center.

OR

· A Master’s degree in biological, social, behavioral or other health-related sciences AND three (3) or more years of experience in experimental or analytical research in a public agency, public or private research corporation, nonprofit research corporation or university research center.

OR

· A PhD in biological, social, behavioral or other health-related sciences AND two (2) or more years of experience in experimental or analytical research in a public agency, public or private research corporation, nonprofit research corporation or university research center.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or above in a biological, social, behavioral or other health-related science.
  • Two years experience in program evaluation.
  • Two years experience in qualitative research methods

Conditions of Employment

  • Willing and able to travel within Washington State to meet program needs which may include night, weekend, and holiday travel as well as driving your personal or state motor pool vehicle, or provide alternative transportation.
  • Willing and able to occasionally work in excess of 40 hours per week to meet critical deadlines.
  • Willing and able to work in a cubicle environment, spending a significant amount of the work day at a personal computer.
