Children’s Bureau is seeking candidates for the position of a full-time Research Coordinator/Parent Educator. This person will work with the Tulane University School of Public Health and the City of New Orleans WIC clinics on a CDC-funded randomized controlled trial studying the effectiveness of implementing low cost parenting interventions designed to reduce risk of child physical abuse and promote positive parenting in broad segments of the population.
As the Research Coordinator, this position is responsible for:
- ensuring all research activities follow established protocol
- conducting and supervising data entry on participant records
- training and supervising Research Assistants
- managing and coordinating staff schedules
- coordinating and co-facilitating weekly meetings
- maintain and leading effective communications with research team and WIC staff
- assisting in other team management and/or study responsibilities as assigned
As the Parent Educator, this position is responsible for providing Triple P (level 2/brief session only) to parents who enroll in the study and are randomly selected for this intervention.
Eligible candidates must have graduate level education in public health, social work, education, counseling, psychology, or a related field. Candidates should be committed to high research quality and integrity as well as offering high quality services to parents. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills, a high level of attention to detail and personal organization, and experience working with parents and families. They should also be proactive, a strong team player, and have reliable transportation. Position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.
