Job Summary:
The Research and Evaluation Manager is responsible for the day to day management of all research, monitoring and evaluation activities of the organization. This position will promote the mission of IWES by working closely with other program staff to support educational, training, and community-based advocacy activities of the organization.

Organizational Relationship:
The Research & Evaluation Manager reports directly to the Director of Research and Evaluation. S/he works closely with program staff, including interns and volunteers when necessary. The Research and Evaluation Manager may work with the Executive Director and CEO on other IWES staff on other related activities and events as needed or when applicable.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain ongoing communication and reporting of research and evaluation activities to the Director of Research and Evaluation, community partners, stakeholders and consultants.
  • Work closely with Program Directors to ensure fidelity to core components of evidenced based models through program monitoring and evaluation activities.
  • Develop qualitative and quantitative evaluation protocols and tools for existing and future programs focused on community wellness.
  • Work with program staff to support qualitative and quantitative data analysis for research and evaluation activities.
  • Serve as site co-administrator for existing data management system.
  • Lead organizational activities to develop shared data systems and indicators with local agencies.
  • Conduct staff training on administration and collection of evaluation and monitoring forms.
  • Produce interim and final evaluation reports on program activities, including methodology, findings, limitations and recommendations.
  • Support and participate in grant writing, publications, presentations and program reports for funders.
  • Assist in the supervision of volunteers and interns, when necessary.
  • Work with a broad coalition of public health educators, academics, service providers, and community organizers for program implementation and evaluation.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Advanced graduate degree, with concentration and minimum of three (3) years of experience in epidemiology, research design, qualitative and quantitative evaluation/assessment, and statistical analysis required; extensive experience in research, assessment, and evaluation methodology.
  • Extensive knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methodology
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities relating to HIV risk reduction interventions, health disparities, mental health, sexual/reproductive health, and adolescent health issues are also required.
  • Proficiency in current versions of Windows, Microsoft Word; and Microsoft PowerPoint; proficiency with SPSS, Epi Info and other applicable analytical and evaluation software, database management and spreadsheet programs, such as Microsoft Excel and Access, Efforts to Solutions, email programs, and Internet.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, preferably including experience in cross-cultural exchanges.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Commitment to organizational mission.

Special Requirements:
Willingness to work occasional night and weekend hours. Limited travel may be necessary.
