HPM Corporation, a subcontractor to the occupational medicine provider
at a large federal government environmental restoration site in
Southeastern Washington State, has a need for a Population Health
Specialist at the AdvanceMed Hanford Occupational Health Services Clinic
in Richland, Washington. The organizational role of this position is to
apply public health principles and approaches to the identification,
prevention and mitigation of adverse health impacts from the
occupational environment. Specific responsibilities include, but are
not limited to:
1. Serve as the organizational expert in the coordination of
risk-based medical surveillance programs with employer sponsored safety
and health programs and act as the chair to the committee responsible
for bringing recommendations for enhancements or modifications to
medical surveillance programs/tools to the Site Occupational Medical
Director (SOMD).
2. Serve as the Employee Job Task Analysis (EJTA) system
administrator (tool used to describe worker job functions, hazards and
anticipated exposure levels for determination of appropriate medical
surveillance exam components). Provide direct customer service and
training to contractor management and industrial hygienists on the use
of the application.
3. Participate in the analysis of occupational health data to
identify sentinel events, trends, adverse health outcomes, and other
information related to the understanding of the health of a worker
population.
4. Provide interpretation of data and develop reports for the
purpose of program/policy development. Collaborate with the SOMD,
physicians, and Risk Communicator to communicate results to the
Department of Energy, Hanford Site contractors, workers, and other
stakeholders.
5. Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate, develop
recommendations, resources and/or health interventions to address
current worker health and safety challenges such as aging workforce,
ergonomics, etc.
6. Act as the Hanford Site Beryllium Registry Data Coordinator and
support Hanford Site Beryllium Programs.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A Masters degree (MS or MPH), with an emphasis in occupational
health, environmental health or medicine, public health, industrial
hygiene, or related field.
2. At least five years experience in collection, analysis, and
interpretation of population health data.
3. Excellent organizational, analytical, written and verbal
communication skills.
4. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office products,
particularly Excel.
5. Ability to plan projects, meet deadlines and provide written and
verbal summaries of work to diverse audiences.
6. Ability to independently and collaboratively organize agendas
and topics for integrated meetings and other forums.
7. Ability to prepare technical reports, records, correspondence,
and professional papers related to the work.
8. Demonstrated ability to interface and interact with individuals
from other organizations, including regulatory authorities and
stakeholders in potentially stressful situations.
Must be eligible for Department of Energy access authorization and pass
a background check.
