Southeast Louisiana Area Health Education Center has an opening for a Health System Strategy Manager. This full time position with the Louisiana Office of Public Health, Bureau of Family Health (BFH) will be a vital source of information and coordinated strategies for improving health systems. Experiences public health, health administration, and health policy are preferred. The Health System Strategy Manager will be expected to:
- Maintain ongoing, current, and detailed knowledge of health and supportive services, including Medicaid and other federal, state, and local resources that provide respite and personal assistance services in particular for the maternal and child health populations and families; ensure concise up-to-date summary of eligibility criteria for program and services.
- Manage the BFH workplans related to monitoring and improving insurance coverage and insurance adequacy.
- Work with the BFH Director and program team leads to inform policy and data driven analytic work related to access to care, payment policy, managed care, prescription drug policy, Medicare-Medicaid dual eligible populations, Medicaid and Medicare data systems, health care quality, and health care financing.
- Work with BFH Data to Action Team and Healthy Equity Lead to translate research about health service access, quality, and accountability into meaningful policy analysis; develop and deliver presentations, and write effective communications pertaining to health care access in Louisiana.
- Serve as principal liaison with Louisiana Medicaid Managed Care Plans to coordinate BFH resources and services with the plans; maintain ongoing relationship with DHH Medicaid in order to stay informed of pending changes to eligibility and Medicaid programs.
- Review policy and state and federal laws and regulations to understand current issues and health priorities.
- Research and identify policy and waiver changes in other states to highlight leading practices, potential risks and solutions to client initiatives.
- Conduct educational programs and training for BFH staff and partners on Medicare, Medicare Managed Care, Medicaid, and other major systems affecting health and healthcare.
- Understand the Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Benefit requirements for non-profit hospitals; develop and maintain a plan for how BFH will proactively intersect with these organizations for mutual benefit.
