New Orleans Regional AIDS Planning Council

Public Health Internship Opportunity

The New Orleans Regional AIDS Planning Council (NORAPC) is seeking graduate student interns to assist with planning council activities (i.e., administrative support, literature review, special projects). NORAPC is a HIV/AIDS service planning body working in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Health Policy (grantee for Federal Ryan White Part A funds). The agency’s mission is to ensure the provision of a high quality continuum of HIV treatment and care for People Living with HIV/AIDS in the New Orleans Eligible Metropolitan Area (Orleans, Jefferson, St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, St. James, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and Plaquemines parishes).

Internship opportunities are ongoing at NORAPC. Capstone and special study projects can be arranged. Please inquire within.

Responsibilities: Under supervision of the Health Planner, in conjunction with the Program Director, assist with the following duties:

75% Time:

· Participate in community meetings and outreach activities

· Conduct internet research regarding service delivery models

· Conduct other literature searches as needed

· Assist with data collection and needs assessment activities

· Data entry and coordination of other volunteers

· Assist with report writing and developing presentations/trainings

· Assist with administrative activities (i.e. meeting coordination, minute taking and/or proofing)

25% Time:

Assist with in-office organization

· Other duties as needed

Qualifications

Graduate student enrolled in a health science or public health program

Computer skills to include MS Word and PowerPoint; knowledge of MS Access and SPSS a plus

Some knowledge of HIV/AIDS a bonus

Ability to work independently

Total Hours: 5 – 10 hours per week

Compensation: Most internships are non-paid.
