GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Maternal and Family Health (MFH) Section is seeking a Section Chief for the State of Wyoming. This position hires, supervises, and provides guidance to the MFH staff and serves as the State Director for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service Block Grant. Put your expertise to work in a state-level position and experience autonomy and leadership development. You can make a difference in the health of children and families of Wyoming. Direct administrative processes, oversee the budget (state and federal funds of nearly thirteen million dollars per biennium), evaluate programs and coordinate with the Public Health Nursing (PHN) Chief Nurse Executive for statewide MFH services in 23 counties.
As a Section Chief you will also represent the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) on several statewide steering committees, workgroups, Governor’s Councils, interagency taskforces, state and national advisory boards, and professional associations, such as the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP). You will have the responsibility and oversight of MFH programs to include: Women’s Health, Maternal and High Risk, Newborn Intensive Care, Newborn Metabolic Screening, Genetic Clinics, Maternal and Infant Home Visitation, Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems, Children’s Special Health and Adolescent Health.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, PLUS five years of professional work experience in a human services field or human services administration.
Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Work management, employee motivation and good leadership. Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office suite and maintain web page. Skilled in evaluating services and programs according to standards. Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage budgets.
Frequent travel required
Preference will be given to applicant with a MCH Certificate Program or MCH Leadership Skills Training Institute.
