Position: TFL Regional Coordinator, Region V, Lake Charles Area
The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living (TFL)
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Public Health or related field preferred
• Undergraduate degree required
• Experience working on community change, outreach, mobilization, and/or
capacity building programs preferred
• Experience in tobacco prevention and control an asset
• Experience in cancer prevention and control an asset
• Experience working on local Louisiana health programs preferred
• Residence in one of the Office of Public Health Region V parishes required
(Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron or Jefferson Davis)
Position Summary:
As a staff member of The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living (TFL), TFL Regional Coordinators are responsible for the coordination and implementation of TFL programs and initiatives in their region, including policy change initiatives. TFL RegionalCoordinators communicate local developments and regional programs to the TFL Program Manager for Community Capacity and Mobilization, to fellow TFL Regional Coordinators and to TFL Program Coordinators through regularly scheduled meetings and reports. TFL Regional Coordinators are based out of Office of Public Health (OPH) offices throughout the nine OPH public health regions in Louisiana. This particular position is housed in an OPH clinic in Sulphur, LA. This position reports to TFL’s Program Manager, Community Capacity and Mobilization.
This position is also a shared employee with the Louisiana Comprehensive Cancer
Control Program (LCCCP). As such, this position is responsible for coordinating and
implementing cancer prevention and control activities in Region V. For these activities,
this position will report to the Program Manager of the Louisiana Comprehensive Cancer
Control Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain a regional office to serve as a site for planning and development of TFL
and LCCCP programs and initiatives
2. Co-chair the Regional Tobacco and Cancer Prevention and Control Coalition
3. Compile program reports for TFL’s Program Manager, Community Capacity and
Mobilization and LCCCP’s Program Manager, and other staff as requested
4. Work with TFL staff to keep detailed records of community mobilization and
relationship building efforts in the region

5. Coordinate with local organizations and TFL and LCCCP partners to evaluate
effectiveness of programs and desired changes and developments
6. Work with TFL staff to assist in the implementation of media campaigns and
corresponding initiatives
7. Coordinate with TFL’s Program Manager, Community Capacity and Mobilization
and other TFL and LCCCP staff to identify opportunities to collaborate on
statewide tobacco prevention and control programs and initiatives
8. Assist in developing regional partnerships with related public health organizations
and community interest groups on programming opportunities in cancer and
tobacco prevention and control
9. Coordinate cancer tobacco prevention and control programming with other TFL
and LCCCP Regional Coordinators/Cancer Control Officers statewide
10. Provide technical assistance and support to community-based organizations
(grantees or community partners) involved in TFL and LCCCP activities
11. Other duties as assigned

community members, statewide smoking prevention initiatives, state and local
government representatives
5. Experience in formal report writing an asset
6. Ability to maintain a highly detail-oriented approach while maintaining an
appreciation of the long-term goals and objectives of the program
7. Knowledge of the different regional areas of Louisiana, specifically the one you
are applying for
8. Ability to oversee many tasks at once
9. Ability to work non-traditional hours as needed
10. Ability to travel statewide several times a year
11. Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications, including:
– Microsoft Word 7.0
– Microsoft Excel 7.0
– Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
– Microsoft Outlook 2000
– Microsoft Publisher an asset
