Job opening – Executive Director, EverThrive IL

EverThrive Illinois works to improve the health of women, children, and families over the lifespan through community engagement, partnerships, policy analysis, education, and advocacy. The Executive Director provides leadership to five initiatives and 17 staff members: Child and Adolescent Health, Health Reform, Immunization, Healthy Lifestyles, and Maternal and Infant Mortality. Position Summary:
The Executive Director will give direction and leadership toward the achievement of EverThrive IL’s philosophy, mission, strategy, and its annual goals and objectives. Other key duties include administration, program management, fund development, marketing, and community outreach. The Executive Director will be responsible for the implementation of the strategic goals and objectives of the organization and, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, will enable the Board to fulfill its governance and fiduciary functions. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors.

The Executive Director should possess the following background and qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years’ population health/social service leadership experience preferred
  • A strong commitment to social justice and social change
  • A healthy dose of passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
  • Established record of effective leadership in a not-for-profit organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a persuasive communicator
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising efforts with government and private foundations, individual giving and major gifts portfolios
  • Effective programmatic and fiscal management of government funded projects
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to recruit, manage, and develop high-performance teams
  • Experience in policy/advocacy work, preferably in women’s and children’s health policy
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets
  • Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people and organizations
  • Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships
  • Knowledge of the Illinois political landscape.
