Mobile and Produce Market Intern
The Mobile and Produce Market intern will work with the Market and Programs Coordinator in the operation of Sankofa’s Mobile Market and Produce Market. These are fresh fruits and vegetables offered at affordable costs from Sankofa’s Learning Garden and local farmers. A student with an interest in food insecurity, love for healthy eating, a healthy lifestyle and cooking will enjoy this internship.
Gardens Intern
Sankofa CDC has four Learning Gardens in the Ninth Ward community and could use the assistance of an intern that enjoys gardening to help maintain, plant and harvest from our gardens. Of the four gardens, we have a community garden from which we grow and supply the produce to our markets that we sell to the community and a school garden used as an educational tool for students. Our third learning garden is being developed into an herb garden which will also be a relaxation area for the residents of the community. Finally, our fourth garden is a fruit orchard where we planted citrus trees that were made available for purchase for a small fee to the residents in the neighborhood. This position works under the direction and supervision of the Market and Programs Manager.
