PSI’s HIV Communication Technical Advisor for Interpersonal Communication (IPC) will serve as the HIV Department’s key point of contact for behavior change communication (BCC) technical support with a focus on interpersonal communication interventions. The HIV Communication Technical Advisor will be responsible for providing technical support to IPC programs globally, improving the quality of existing IPC program implementation, fostering IPC program innovation and disseminating lessons learned and best practices to both internal and external audiences. This position is based in Washington, D.C. and reports to the Global HIV Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support HIV BCC programs through program assessments, the design and conduction of both management and implementer-level trainings, material development and review, operationalizing health communication standards, and M&E plan guidance;
- Support the implementation of the HIV Departments’ strategic plan for HIV health communication with a focus on HIV innovations including concurrent sexual partnership interventions and male circumcision;
- Improve PSI’s HIV BCC programs in terms of ensuring continued funding, stakeholder support, and effective program implementation;
- Develop and disseminate knowledge management strategies and tools to foster harmonious approaches to BCC interventions across country programs;
- Support PSI’s New Business Development Department in developing and writing technically sound proposals to ensure increased funding for PSI’s HIV service programs; and
- Ensure expansion of and health impact from PSI’s BCC interventions and ensure that evaluation findings and lessons learned are disseminated both internally and externally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in public health, health communication, social marketing, or relevant discipline;
- At least 5-7 years professional experience in the design, implementation and support of health communication programs including both mass media and IPC;
- Technical expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS;
- Experience with social marketing a plus;
- Ability to travel internationally 25-30%; and
- Fluency in at least one foreign language is preferred (French, Spanish and/or Portuguese).
