Health Promotion Practicum

The Prevention Research Center

at Tulane University

Presents its spring 2009 Health Promotion Practicum Program

The Prevention Research Center at Tulane University will offer two competitive practicum internships to provide an exceptional student with paid, real-life experience in the field of health promotion. For this semester’s internship, the PRC is working with two members of our Community Advisory Board, Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana and the East Jefferson Parish YMCA.

The deadline to apply is October 27, 2008. The intern will be selected from among qualified applicants and notified as soon as possible, but no later than November 25, 2008. The internship position will begin this spring, but may continue past the spring semester, depending on student availability and the organization’s specific needs.

Interns will be required to work a total of 300 hours as part of this internship. This internship can fulfill the graduation requirement for a 200-hour practicum and a 100-hour culminating experience. Please consult with your advisor to determine if this internship is a good fit with your academic and professional interests and your department’s requirements. Interns are required to fulfill all reporting requirements mandated by the School’s practicum manual.

The intern will receive a $3,375.00 stipend from the Prevention Research Center. This internship is limited to master- level public health students at Tulane University. Students applying for the internship must complete all elements of the application.

Please see the attached PRC Internship Application and Descriptions.
