Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) Position Description

Position: Evaluation Coordinator

Position Summary:

As a member of the Evaluation Team, the Evaluation Coordinator will implement evaluation plans and mechanisms for components of one or more large LPHI programs. In certain instances, the Evaluation Coordinator may serve as the lead evaluator for smaller evaluation projects. The Evaluation Coordinator will also support evaluation capacity building among external community partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in social sciences or public health (or undergraduate degree with three

years experience in program evaluation and/or research).

Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative evaluation and research methods.

Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methodology.

Ability to write evaluation reports for general dissemination.

Ability to meet program and reporting timelines.

Experience in evaluation of health and human service delivery systems a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the planning and coordination of evaluations.

a. Assist in the development of evaluation plans.

b. Coordinate and conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection.

c. Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analyses.

d. Ensure consistent use of evaluation protocols and methodologies.

2. Support evaluation capacity building among internal program staff and external partners.

a. Support program staff in the areas of evaluation strategies, data

collection, data quality, and performance measurement.

b. Provide evaluation technical assistance to external clients.

c. Support program staff in using evaluation data for policy and decision

making.

3. Assist in reporting and product development activities.

a. Meet contract and grant requirements for reporting.

b. Assist with the development of evaluation technical assistance products.

c. Contribute to the development of dissemination materials, including

manuscripts and presentations.

d. Develop the evaluation reports or sections for grant applications.

4. Serve as Evaluation Team member.

a. Contribute at Evaluation Team meetings.

b. Participate in workgroups to further mission of LPHI.

c. Work with Evaluation Team on evaluation planning and management as

requested.

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical

information in a non-technical manner

2. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team

3. Strong attention to detail

4. Ability to think proactively and function independently

5. Good organization skills with the ability to manage heavy workloads and multiple tasks

6. Training on the use of major statistical software packages such as SPSS or SAS

7. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
