TITLE: DISTRIBUTION AND LOGISITICS OFFICER

PSI is seeking a Distribution and Logistics Officer to provide technical assistance and training to our field offices in logistics, warehousing and distribution. The Officer will report to the Director, Procurement & Logistics, and will be based in Washington, D.C with substantial travel to our field offices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and write the country procurement and supply management plans for Global Fund grants;
- Responsible for developing standard operating procedures for logistics, warehousing and distribution including manuals, factsheets, checklists, banners etc;
- Provide technical assistance to country offices through local staff capacity building and provision of guidance on distribution, logistics and warehousing;
- Work closely with local sales, warehousing and procurement staff to determine commodity needs and forecasting methods;
- Work with manufacturer and field offices to facilitate commodity registrations;
- Assess the appropriateness of distribution networks and offering options for improvement;
- Assess and strengthen the design, layout and operation of warehouses and distribution systems including physical design, material handling, IT infrastructure, processes and procedures and HR resources;
- Analyze inward and outbound transportation options and costs and indentifying options to improve service or reduce costs; and
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or Business;
- At least 5 years experience in supply chain management in public health in developing countries;
- An in depth understanding of other aspects of supply chain such as procurement, inventory etc.;
- Excellent written and verbal English and French language skills. Spanish, or Portuguese language skills a plus;
- Ability to work comfortably in the ERP systems and MS Office;
- Ability to work independently and manage various projects in a team setting, with minimal supervision;
- Strong organizational and communication skills;
- Experience with USAID, UN or other bilateral/multilateral agency desirable; and
- Willingness to travel to developing countries.
