Director, International Health Group

Chemonics International seeks several experienced public health professionals for the position of Director in the International Health Group (IHG), based in Washington DC. The ideal candidates will have sectoral expertise as well as extensive experience working in developing countries. The functions of a director are to provide strategic and technical approaches for projects, and make significant contributions to new project development through research, writing proposal sections, and strategic positioning. International travel is expected (approximately 30% of the time).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct public health activities and provide technical advice in public private partnerships, infectious diseases, supply chain management, private sector, or health service delivery
- Lead health project(s) through providing technical, administrative, and management oversight to the project teams
- Lead new business development efforts, including technical input, and proposal writing
- Provide home-office management and technical guidance to USAID-funded projects
- Maintain contacts with USAID and other clients
Qualifications:
- MPH or advanced degree in public health, medicine, or other related fields .Minimum 7-10 years of experience
- Ability to conceptualize, perform, and direct technical assignments and write technical documents/proposals
- Ability to think strategically about global health problems and potential solutions, across a range of technical areas
- Extensive experience in program design and implementation
- Ability to travel 30% of the time
- Experience with USAID-funded activities is strongly preferred
- Fluency in one or more foreign languages preferred
- Permanent U.S. work authorization required.
