CSHOR Manager

Position/Title: Manager, CSHOR

Location:  Boston based; Frequent Travel

The Center for Strategic HIV Operations Research (CSHOR) is a division of the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) that seeks to improve health systems and care through quantitative analysis. CSHOR supports and strengthens CHAI’s global activities – including negotiating lower prices for lifesaving antiretroviral and antimalarial treatments, working with governments to improve national health care systems, and generally seeking to improve access to crucial medicines – by analyzing complex problems involving resource planning and allocation, developing and applying pragmatic tools and models, and providing the analyses required to make difficult decisions in resource-limited settings.

The CSHOR manager will coordinate the CSHOR team and ensure progress within the program. Acting as the team’s advocate, the manager will be CSHOR’s representative to the Foundation management and its partners. The CSHOR manager is responsible for defining the Foundation’s overall strategy within the program area and developing clear operational plans for execution. The CSHOR manager will work closely with the relevant technical staff abroad and in the US to facilitate streamlined operations. We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial individual with outstanding problem-solving ability and communication skills. The position is Boston-based and the individual must be available for frequent travel.

Responsibilities

· Taking ownership of the Foundation’s agenda and successfully executing it within CSHOR

· Ensuring appropriate staffing and training, i.e. a small yet highly effective team abroad and stateside

· Establishing the appropriate processes and tools for planning, budgeting, project implementation, reporting and monitoring progress and leading their implementation

· Developing trust and strong relationships with all the key stakeholders stateside as well as country governments, international agencies, NGOs, and donors

· Maintaining appropriate bi-directional communication and information flow with headquarters and the CSHOR team to maximize output and impact

· Secure ongoing funding for CSHOR operations

Required Skills/Experience

· Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree (MBA, MPA or MPH), and 5-7 years experience in strategic and operations management role or equivalent

· Great manager, role model and team player who demands 100% performance from self and entire team

· Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a highly technical team

· Result-oriented, seasoned operator who knows how to get things done on time and with a limited budget

· Public health knowledge and/or experience in developing countries

· Success in fundraising and grant or proposal development

· Modern, visionary, and innovative thinker

· An ability to operate in an unstructured but demanding multicultural environment, with a track record of high performance

· Excellent business-oriented oral and written communication skills

· Knowledge of HIV/AIDS desired (but not required)
