Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) Position Description
Position: Program Manager - Behavioral Health Initiatives (BHI)
Position Summary:
The BHI Program Manager reports to the Director of Behavioral Health
Initiatives and works
closely with key staff members and community leaders. The BHI Program
Manager duties are to
o Coordinate the assigned program providing services to clients
o Recommend policies and procedures and interprets their use to ensure
compliance in
maintaining program accountability and effectiveness,
o Evaluate program/projects as required to improve the quality as well
as quantity of
service delivery,
o Provide technical assistance to program and office staff in areas of
expertise.
o Represent the department on inter-agency councils and committees and
attend meetings
relating to area of responsibility,
o Maintain a collaborative relationship with health agencies,
o Prepare reports on program performance, needs, services, information
and demographic
data.
o Contribute to and ensure the evaluation of program performance,
o Monitor program operations through on site visits, review of reports
and records,
o Provide information and interpretation of the assigned program/special
projects to all
departmental staff and prepares program plans, policy manuals and other
informational
materials for distribution to staff, health agencies and clients to meet
grant reporting
requirements.
o May supervise graduate student interns
Minimum Qualifications:
-Master's Degree required;
Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or related field preferred
-Undergraduate degree required, social sciences preferred
-Two years experience working in healthcare, mental health and/or
substance abuse
interdisciplinary team programs, preferably in Louisiana
-Knowledge of grant and/or management responsibilities preferred
-Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid survey process, utilization review
and/or
behavioral health coding procedures a plus
Current opening: Collaborative to Improve Behavioral Healthcare Access
(CIBHA)
Provide development and support implementation of collaborative care
model for health
agencies in accordance with grant terms and agreed upon timelines
Objective 1: Provide participants' with assistance in formulating their
unique C-IBHA
plan to implement components of the Chronic Care Model
Objective 2: Identify technical assistance needs or topics
Objective 3: Monitor participants' progress in achieving plan milestones
Organize BHAN and C-IBHA meetings including, but not limited to,
internal team coordination
discussions, technical assistance calls and day long seminars.
Duties include: locate venue, develop agenda, transcribe minutes,
disseminate agenda and
materials; order refreshments, attend meetings on behalf of department

1. Ability to think proactively and. to work independently on assigned
special
projects.
2. Experience planning community meetings, designing and implementing
public
health initiatives.
3. Experience in Coalition building, community organizing, and health
promotion.
4. Ability to write clear, concise reports, and to follow and to give
written and oral
instructions in a precise, understandable manner.
5. Ability to establish rapport with others and to maintain harmonious
working
relationships with others.
6. The ability to work with diverse populations and agencies within the
social
service and health care community required.
7. Strong skills in written and oral communication: experience in formal
reporting
an asset.
8. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability of developing time
lines and
meeting deadlines.
9. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate
effectively.
10. Commitment to the mission of LPHI
11. Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications, including: Microsoft
Word 7.0,
Microsoft Excel 7.0, Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, Microsoft Outlook
2000Microsoft Publisher an asset
