Africa 2010 Seeks Gender-Based Violence Advisor
Africa’s Health in 2010 is looking for a gender and gender-based violence (GBV) advisor to provide technical leadership on gender and GBV issues related to AFR/SD, AED and Africa’s Health in 2010 strategies and activities in Africa.
Africa’s Health in 2010 project (http://africahealth2010.aed.org/) provides strategic, analytical, communications, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation support to African regional institutions and networks on the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health policies and programs to improve the health status of Africans.
The GBV Advisor is a senior specialist position for providing technical leadership on gender and GBV issues related to USAID Africa Bureau strategies and activities. A few examples of the work are: serving as gender and GBV resource person, identifying emerging and critical GBV issues in Africa, and providing technical assistance to African institutions and networks on gender and GBV.
Candidates should have a Masters in Gender Studies or related degree with 11 years of experience or a Doctorate with at least 6 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; excellent knowledge of Africa, and of GBV in Africa; and must have worked in development in Africa and with African institutions and/or networks.
