The National Alliance of Vietnamese American Service Agencies (NAVASA) is a national membership agency currently comprised of 35 community-based (CBOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs). Founded in 1995, NAVASA’s mission is to improve social and economic justice in Vietnamese communities nationwide by transforming Vietnamese social service agencies, developing future non-profit leaders, and increasing public and private resources for the community.
In 2004, NAVASA launched the Dan Than Corps, the first of its kind, to prepare a new generation of non-profit leaders. The Corps engages young Vietnamese American across the U.S. to serve their communities, at the same time deepening their understanding of the challenges facing Vietnamese communities, developing non-profit management and leadership skills and knowledge, and building a national movement for community change. In addition to promoting a spirit of service and activism among young Vietnamese Americans, the Corps also recruits community members of all ages and non-Vietnamese members to meet the multitude of the service gaps. Dan Than members are placed with Vietnamese-led community-based organizations that serve as host sites.
We are actively recruiting for Dan Than Fellows 2008-2009 for our host site in New Orleans. Please help direct student to visit our website at: www.navasa.org and www.navasa.org/danthancorps.htm. Please email question and submit application to: danthan@navasa.org.
