Epidemiologist – Louisiana – Occupational Health

The Occupational Health Program has funds to support an
epidemiologist/data analyst for a 1-year period. The position should be
ready for hire sometime around July 2008. The position hasn’t been
completely processed by human resources, yet approval for hire is
anticipated soon. In the meantime, we are seeking eligible and

Epidemiologist/Data Analyst

Occupational Health Surveillance Program
Section of Environmental Epidemiology & Toxicology (SEET)
Office of Public Health
Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals

Salary: $31,000 to 40,000 per year depending on education & experience

Tentative Start Date: July 1, 2008

Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in public health is required.
Education and experience in epidemiology, database management and
statistical analysis software is preferred.

Duties: The Epidemiologist/Data analyst will work with SEET staff on a
CDC/NIOSH Occupational Health Surveillance Grant. The grant’s purpose is
to conduct population-based surveillance of specified occupational
health indicators using existing data sources. Specific duties to be
performed related to the Occupational Surveillance Grant include:
analyze relevant occupational safety and health data; perform QA/QC and
database management; assist in drafting and finalizing reports,
articles, and newsletters; obtain and review medical/scientific
literature on occupational safety and health; develop and implement
communication strategies to disseminate surveillance information to the
general public, medical community, industry, and government agencies.
