REad about our community partners
Louisiana Department of Health: Bureau of Family Health
Tulane CEMCH maintains a strong partnership with the Louisiana Department of Health Bureau of Family Health, as showcased on their official page here. This partnership is crucial in enhancing the learning and practical experience of students at Tulane CEMCH. The Bureau plays a significant role by offering technical assistance to Tulane CEMCH, thereby enriching the educational framework.
Furthermore, this collaboration extends into practical learning opportunities for students, as they are offered rotations and internships within the Bureau. This not only provides invaluable hands-on experience but also bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world public health practice. Additionally, the Bureau’s engagement with Tulane CEMCH goes beyond educational support, as it also involves hiring graduates, thereby offering a direct pathway for students to transition into professional roles in the field of public health.
Crescent City Family Services
Crescent City Family Services, detailed on their website here, is another vital partner of Tulane CEMCH. This collaboration primarily revolves around joint research and training initiatives. A significant aspect of this partnership is the involvement of Tulane CEMCH students in internships and rotations at Crescent City Family Services. This not only provides them with real-world experience but also contributes to their professional development. The partnership extends to working together on two to three different federally funded research projects, indicating a deep and multifaceted collaboration.
Crescent City Family Services plays a critical role in community health through their provision of WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and Healthy Start Services to approximately 25,000 clients annually. This aspect of their service delivery is highlighted on their Instagram page, which showcases a wide array of activities and services they offer.
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Coalition
The partnership with the MCH Coalition, as detailed on their site here, is another cornerstone of Tulane CEMCH’s collaborative efforts. The coalition includes faculty members from Tulane CEMCH who are among its founding members, reflecting the deep-rooted connection and commitment to maternal and child health (MCH). Students from Tulane CEMCH are actively involved with the NOLA MCH Coalition, engaging in vital areas such as policy and advocacy. Their participation is not limited to academic exercises; they actively contribute as volunteers and organizers, playing a significant role in advocating for MCH populations. This engagement with the coalition has led to notable outcomes, including publications and community-based research projects.
A remarkable project undertaken in collaboration with the MCH Coalition involved Tulane CEMCH students profiling legislative report cards for members of the Louisiana House of Representatives. This project underscores the practical impact of the partnership, extending the reach of students’ work to policy and legislative domains.
