The Tulane Maternal and Child Health Leadership Training program and the Tulane Prevention Research Center, in collaboration with the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center and the Alabama Public Health Training Network, are pleased to present the live webcast “Feet, Forks, and the Fate of Our Families.”
Webcast faculty, David Katz, MD, MPH, founding director of Yale University’s Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center , will discuss how our American eating habits have changed and what must be done to reclaim our health. The role of the health care provider and educators will be discussed as well as Best Practice programs which can help to reverse the trend and lead to a healthy lifestyle. There will be a live question-and-answer session at the end of the webcast, scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, from 10-11:30 a.m. CDT.

Program objectives include:
- Characterize recent trends in obesity and diabetes in children.
- Identify the root causes of epidemic obesity and chronic disease.
- Discuss the potential impact of lifestyle behaviors on the incidence of chronic disease throughout the lifecourse.
- Identify specific programs that show promise in reversing the trends in obesity and related conditions in children.
Webcast target audience: nurses, social workers, nutritionists, pediatricians, physicians, health care providers, school educators and administrators, and public health educators.
